Argentina would offer tax breaks to owners and manufacturers of electric vehicles under legislation unveiled Tuesday.
Electric vehicles would be exempt from import taxes and wouldn’t count towards individuals’ personal asset taxes, Economy Minister Matias Kulfas said in presenting the proposal.
- Manufacturers of electric vehicles would benefit from the anticipated return of value-added tax, accelerated depreciation on related investments, and loss compensation for up to 10 years.
- They would also earn a tax credit worth up to 50% of payroll taxes for personnel involved in EV projects and a credit worth 7% for locally produced parts and tools.
