Attorney for Government Withdraws From Coca-Cola Tax Appeal

One of the government’s lead attorneys in a closely watched appeals-court tax case involving Coca-Cola Co. has abruptly withdrawn from the case because she has left her job.

Judith A. Hagley, an attorney with the Justice Department’s tax division, is “retiring from federal service” effective Thursday, according to a motion she filed July 30 with the US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit seeking to withdraw from the case. The court approved Hagley’s withdrawal Thursday.
