The Australian Taxation Office Sept. 17 announced the Oct. 31 deadline to file self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) annual returns for the 2023-24 financial year. The announcement also states that: 1) returns are required for SMSFs with covered assets as of June 30; 2) SMSFs without covered assets as of June 30 may either submit a return not necessary request or cancel their SMSF registration; 3) taxpayers may appoint registered tax professionals to assist with filing returns; and 4) failure to timely file a return may cause an SMSF’s compliance status on Super Fund Lookup to change to “regulation details removed,” ...
