Australia Tax Agency Updates Reasonable Food, Drink Expenses Under Employee Fringe Benefit Rules for 2026

The Australian Taxation Office March 25 issued Taxation Determination No. TD 2026/2, updating the reasonable expense amounts for food and drinks, incurred by employees receiving a fringe benefit allowance for living away from home, for the fringe benefits tax year beginning April 1. The determination includes: 1) the 2026 tables of weekly allowable expense limits for food and drinks, for employees and eligible family members who live away from home due to work, either within or outside of Australia; and 2) examples of calculating reasonable expense amounts for fringe benefits tax purposes.
