Austria Lower House Considers Bill to Amend Income Tax Act

The Austrian lower house of parliament (Nationalrat) Dec. 16 accepted for consideration Bill No. 666/A, to amend the Income Tax Act 1988. The bill includes measures to: 1) exempt bonuses for the first 15 hours of overtime monthly, capped at 50 percent of the basic wage and 170 euros (US$199), for pay periods starting after Dec. 31, 2025, and ending before Jan. 1, 2027; 2) exempt dirt, hardship, and hazard allowances, surcharges for Sunday, public holiday, night work, as well as holiday pay and related bonuses, capped at 400 euros (US$470) monthly, from payroll periods ending after Dec. 31; 3) ...
