Austria MOF Clarifies Tax Liability of Managing Director for Unpaid Company Tax Debts

The Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance Sept. 15 posted online Federal Finance Court Decision No. RV/7105427/2019, clarifying a managing director’s liability for a company’s unpaid tax debts. The taxpayer, a company’s former managing director, was held liable for the company’s outstanding tax debts, after bankruptcy and deletion from the commercial register. The taxpayer argued that the limitation period for liability had expired, and that he couldn’t provide evidence because the legal document retention period had expired.
