Austria MOF Explains OECD Model Rules on Global Minimum Tax for Multinational Enterprises

The Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance Jan. 12 explained OECD model rules on a global minimum tax for multinational enterprises (MNEs). The explanation includes: 1) an outline of the 15 percent global minimum tax for large MNEs; 2) the two-pillar approach for fair and efficient taxation of the profits of large MNEs; 3) that pillar one provides for the taxation of profits of MNEs in the country where they have sales revenue, regardless of their physical presence in the country; and 4) that pillar two seeks to reduce tax competition between countries by imposing a minimum tax of 15 percent. ...
