Bahamas Prime Minister Announces VAT Rate Reduction for Food Items Sold in Food Stores

The Bahamian Prime Minister Jan. 8 announced a 50 percent reduction in the VAT rate, to 5 percent from 10 percent, on all food items sold in food stores, including fresh fruits, vegetables, baby food, lunch snacks, and frozen foods, excluding prepared foods in the deli, effective April 1.
