Belgium Gazettes Royal Decree Announcing Reduced VAT Rate for Specific Energy Products Due to War

The Belgian Official Gazette March 30 published Royal Decree No. 2022020620, announcing a reduced VAT rate for specific energy products due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The decree includes measures announcing: 1) a 6 percent VAT rate on residential electricity until Sept. 30; 2) a 6 percent VAT rate on natural gas under residential contracts from April 1 to Sept. 30; and 3) an extension of the social gas or electricity tariff until Sept. 30.
