Belgium Parliament Approves Bill to Transpose DAC8, Amend CRS, Implement CARF

The Belgian Chamber of Representatives March 13 approved Bill No. 56K1249001, to transpose Directive 2023/2226/EU (DAC8), amend common reporting standard (CRS) provisions, and implement the OECD Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF). The bill includes measures to: 1) introduce a unified CARF, expanding reporting, nil-filing, domestic transaction reporting, and 10-year record-retention obligations for crypto-asset service providers, applicable from Jan. 1; 2) expand registration and re-registration rules for crypto-asset operators not covered by the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA); 3) update CRS rules to cover electronic money, central bank digital currencies, non-custodial dividends, and nil declarations, applicable from Jan. 1, with transitional relief ...
