Botswana Tax Agency Posts Guidance Note on Transitional Rules for Reversion to Standard VAT Rate

The Botswana Unified Revenue Service April 5 posted a guidance note on transitional VAT rules for April 2023. Topics covered include: 1) the reversion to the standard 14 percent VAT rate, from the reduced 12 percent rate, effective April 1; 2) transitional rules for determining the correct rate, for supplies and payments occurring either before or after April 1; 3) categories for the determination of input and output VAT, based on the timing of covered transactions; and 4) relevant examples.
