Brazil Extends Zero Import Tax Rate to More Medical Items

Brazil added 81 items to the list of medical products eligible for an exemption from import tax, part of its effort to fight the coronavirus.

  • Items covered include equipment used to produce pulmonary ventilators, as well as hospital equipment like carbon dioxide sensors and radiographic equipment.
  • Brazil had already adjusted to zero the import tax rate on a number of medical products, announced April 16.
  • The items added Thursday bring the total number of products with a zero import tax rate to 394, the Ministry of Economy’s statement said.
