Brazil Politics: Bolsonaro Says He Can Cut Taxes, Raise Revenue

Flavio Bolsonaro said he intends to cut taxes if he wins Brazil’s October presidential election while speaking to businessmen over the weekend, although he provided few details about the plan.

The senator and top challenger to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said he would propose a new tax reform to amend the overhaul passed by Congress, according to Folha de S.Paulo. He said the reform doesn’t have to be revenue neutral because his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, proved that a modern, lean government can reduce taxes and increase revenues, the report says.
