The Bulgarian Ministry of Finance Sept. 18 opened a consultation on a bill to amend the VAT Law. The bill includes measures to: 1) transpose EU Directive 2020/285, on the small business VAT regime, to require Bulgarian businesses to register if annual domestic turnover exceeds 166,000 Bulgarian leva (US$94,667); 2) require other EU businesses applying the regime to register if the 166,000 leva threshold is exceeded in Bulgaria, or the 100,000 euros (US$111,538) threshold is exceeded in the EU; 3) transpose EU Directive 2022/542 on VAT rates, to change place of supply rules for internet streaming and virtually accessible events; ...
