California Law Exempts Breast Pumps and Supplies From Sales Tax

Breast pumps and related supplies are exempt from California sales tax under a bill signed by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom Friday.

The new law (A.B. 1203) creates parity between breast feeding and formula feeding for infants, according to author Assemblymember Jasmeet Bains (D). It also adds to recently enacted exemptions for diapers and menstrual products intended to make the state’s tax system more equitable.
