Canada Border Services Agency Clarifies U.S. Surtax Order for Canadian Companies

The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) April 17 posted Customs Notice 25-19, clarifying the U.S. Surtax Order for Canadian Companies. The customs notice clarifies: 1) the scope of remission order on goods supporting public health, public safety and national security; 2) the conditions of surtax relief for goods used in Canadian manufacturing, processing, and food and beverage packaging; 3) the rulings for commercial importations; 4) the reporting requirements for declaring imported goods subject to surtax; and 5) the requirements for correcting surtax declarations and requesting re-determinations.
