Canada Gazettes Order Amending, Repealing Specific Tariffs Under CUSMA Framework

The Canadian Official Gazette Aug. 29 published order No. SOR/2025-181, amending and repealing specific tariffs under the United States Surtax Orders, aligning with the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). The order includes measures covering: 1) the removal of surtaxes on consumer, household, and non-steel/non-aluminum goods imported from the U.S.; 2) clarification of tariff item classifications; 3) refund eligibility for previously paid surtaxes; and 4) exemptions for goods already in transit prior to the effective date.
