Cayman Islands Escape EU Tax Haven List, More Virus-Aid Possible

The EU removed the Cayman Islands and Oman on Tuesday from a list of so-called tax haven countries, leading to renewed criticism that the list is ineffective.

European Union officials also added Barbados and Anguilla to the list, keeping the number of jurisdictions at 12.

This list, which is updated twice a year, is intended to name countries that could face EU anti-tax avoidance measures. It could also play an important role this year when it comes to doling out coronavirus aid.
