The Cayman Department of Labor and Pensions Sept. 16 updated FAQs on the national minimum basic wage rate. The updated FAQs include that: 1) the hourly national minimum basic wage rate is 8.75 Cayman dollars (US$10.55), before deductions, effective Jan. 1, 2026; 2) the rate is before pension and health insurance deductions; 3) for service and commission-based employees, up to 25 percent of the rate, or 2.19 dollars (US$2.64) per hour, can be counted from gratuities or commissions, respectively, and the employees are still entitled to keep all gratuities and commissions earned in addition to regular wages; 4) for live-in ...
