The Chilean Chamber of Deputies Feb. 21 announced the consideration of a bill to establish a mining royalty for copper and lithium extractions. The bill includes a measure that would impose a 3 percent royalty on the nominal value of minerals extracted, with an exception for operators extracting less than 12,000 metric tons of fine copper or 50,000 metric tons of metallic lithium.
