Chile Tax Agency Clarifies VAT Rules for Commercial Property Leases

The Chilean Internal Revenue Service May 25 issued Resolution No. 53, clarifying the application of VAT rules for commercial property leases. The resolution includes measures to: 1) establish a set of criteria for VAT taxation based on the use and characteristics of the leased property; and 2) clarify that properties which aren’t used for commercial purposes aren’t subject to VAT.
