Colombia President Posts Decree Regulating Exclusion of Sales Tax, VAT in Prison System

The Colombian President’s Office Dec. 29, 2023, posted online Decree No. 2277/2023, regulating the exclusion of sales tax and VAT in the national prison system. The decree includes measures: 1) explaining relevant definitions; 2) excluding sales tax and VAT on goods purchased or imported by entities forming the National Prison and Prison System; 3) excluding sales tax and VAT on products prepared, produced, and produced and prepared within detention facilities; and 4) explaining the certification process of the same products.
