Colombia Tax Agency Issues Press Release on Temporary Suspension of Modified Withholding Tax Bases, Rates

The Colombian National Tax and Customs Directorate May 8 announced the provisional suspension of various withholding tax provisions, pursuant to an Interlocutory Order. The announcement includes: 1) the temporary suspension of the modified withholding tax and self-withholding tax bases and rates for specified transactions, such as certain provisions of services and real estate purchases, under Decree 572/2025; 2) a clarification that the suspension doesn’t eliminate the obligations to withhold taxes at source and self-withhold; and 3) that withholding agents must apply the tax bases and rates under Decree 1625/2016 until the precautionary measure is lifted or a final judgment is ...
