The Costa Rican Ministry of Finance Oct. 2 clarified the 2025 property tax for vehicles. The clarification includes that: 1) the property tax on vehicles over 15 years old remains unchanged for 2025; 2) the property tax is reduced for 2025 for vehicles subject to the payment of circulation rights; 3) the property tax amount payable will be available from Nov. 1; and 4) the fixed 9,200 Costa Rican colones (US$17.69) tax on buses, taxis, and heavy-duty vehicles is unchanged for 2025, and is due Dec. 31, 2024, with a 10 percent monthly fine imposed for delay.
