Developing Countries Want More From OECD Digital Tax Plan (1)

The OECD’s digital tax plan doesn’t go far enough in helping developing countries gain more tax revenue, representatives from countries and non-governmental organizations said.

“On the question of the taxing rights of developing countries, we are disappointed,” said Winnie Byanyima, the executive director of Oxfam International. “We want to see more profits taxed within the areas where the business is done.”

Byanyima was speaking Oct. 17 at an event in Washington organized by groups including Oxfam, the Financial Transparency Coalition, and the Independent Commission for the Reform of International Corporate Taxation.
