Digital Tax Plan Quarterly Update Requirement to Stay, HMRC Says

The UK tax authority, despite criticism, is sticking to its plan of requiring quarterly taxpayer updates in the digital reporting system it will start next year, an HMRC official said Wednesday.

“Absolutely not—we will not remove quarterly updates,” Craig Ogilvie, His Majesty Revenue and Customs’ director of Making Tax Digital, said, while acknowledging that the new requirements have been criticized by taxpayers who question the quarterly update requirements.
