The Egyptian Tax Authority Jan. 14 announced the Jan. 31 deadline for submitting annual salary settlement declarations. The announcement also clarifies that: 1) employees may object to the amount of tax withheld, by submitting applications to their employers within 30 days of the date of payment; 2) employers may object to the tax differences resulting from examinations, within 30 days of receiving notification; and 3) taxpayers must submit tax returns if their income from various sources exceeds the exempted threshold.
