The Salvadoran Official Gazette Jan. 30 published Decree No. 199, reforming the Bitcoin Law. The decree includes measures: 1) allowing any price to be expressed in Bitcoin; 2) exempting Bitcoin exchanges from capital gains tax; 3) allowing only natural persons and legal entities with full private participation to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment when offered as payment for goods, services, or monetary obligations; 4) directing the Central Reserve Bank and Superintendency of the Financial System to issue related regulations; 5) requiring payment of the government’s domestic or foreign monetary obligations in the currency in which they were contracted; ...
