El Salvador MOF Issues Guidance on Tax Amnesty Program

The Salvadoran Ministry of Finance Aug. 26 issued guidance on the tax amnesty program enacted in Legislative Decree 478/2022, which entered into force Aug. 25. The amnesty remains in force until Nov. 1. Topics covered include: 1) the waiving of interest, surcharges, and additional fines, with the payment of delinquent taxes; 2) the grace period of up to nine months to pay taxes due when an installment plan is granted; 3) the amnesty’s application to taxes for which filing and payment deadlines expired prior to Aug. 25, to annual returns up to fiscal year 2021, and to certain monthly returns ...
