Estonia Parliament Considers Bill Reducing Excise, VAT Rates

The Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) March 24 accepted for consideration Bill No. 565 SE, reducing excise tax and VAT rates. The bill includes measures to: 1) reduce excise duty rates on certain fuels, including petrol, diesel, gas, and specific fuel oils, to the minimum rates in the EU; 2) reduce the preferential VAT rate to 5 percent from 9 percent; and 3) add fuels subject to excise taxes to the list of goods subject to VAT at a preferential rate.
