Estonia Parliament Considers Three Proposals to Reduce VAT Rates on Specific Food, Medicines, Publications

The Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) Sept. 21 accepted for consideration Resolution Nos. 272 OE and 277 OE, and Bill No. 286 SE, to reduce the VAT rate to 5 percent: 1) on foodstuffs, including potatoes, fruits, and vegetables, but excluding alcohol, from the 20 percent standard rate; and 2) on medicines, or on medicines for the treatment of cancer and other malignant tumors for private individuals and legal entities.
