Malta, Austria, and France could make additional efforts to improve their value-added tax audit practices, the EU Commission said Thursday.
Only Finland and Sweden’s audit systems include all of the recommended best practices, according to a Commission report on value-added tax collection released Thursday. The report relied on answers given by member countries, plus the U.K., in response to survey questions.
- The Commission recommended several practices: “Use sector-specific audit manuals, cooperate with other agencies, update and review audit plans and monitor the quality of audit function in accordance with a documented process,” it said.
