Belgium, holder of the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, will keep pushing Estonia to lift an objection blocking unanimous agreement by EU governments on updated value-added tax rules.
Estonia is not being offered major compromises, but “incremental, small clarifications to give them reassurance,” such as a slightly longer period before the new rules would enter into force, an EU official speaking on condition of anonymity said Tuesday.
