The European Commission should include EU cryptocurrency and financial transaction taxes when it proposes new sources of revenue for the bloc’s budget later this year, European Parliament lawmakers said Wednesday.
A crypto tax would “foster the emergence of a harmonized tax framework for crypto-assets,” the lawmakers said in an advisory resolution approved by 356 to 199, with 65 abstentions.
