EU Pivot From Tax Avoidance Crackdown Concerns Advocacy Groups

Tax justice groups are calling on the EU not to stray from its tax avoidance agenda, a move that looks increasingly likely as the bloc’s professed pivot toward simplification takes shape.

With governments losing hundreds of billions of euros to tax avoidance each year, there’s a risk that number “is going to go up instead of down,” said Tove Maria Ryding, who leads tax policy work at the European Network on Debt and Development.
