EU Takes Malta to Court Over Tax Discrimination, Warns Germany

The European Commission Thursday said it would take Malta to the European Union Court of Justice over discriminatory tax rules, and issued a warning to Germany.

Maltese rules discriminated against buyers of older used cars first registered outside Malta but subsequently imported into the country by levying a higher circulation tax than levied on similarly aged cars with their first registration in Malta, the commission said.
