European Union Gazettes EC Decision Approving Amendments to German State Aid Regime for Maritime Transport

The European Union Official Gazette Jan. 14 published the European Commission (EC) Decision on State Aid Case No. SA.64783, approving amendments to the German state aid regime for maritime transport. The amendments include measures: 1) extending the regime to Dec. 31, 2027, from Dec. 31, 2021; 2) increasing the overall budget to 46.5 million euros (US$52.8 million) from 44 million euros (US$49.9 million); and 3) expanding the regime from German flagged vessels to all eligible vessels flying the flag of any European Economic Area (EEA) country, provided they were registered in a German shipping register.
