The European Union Official Gazette May 20 published the European Commission (EC) Decision on State Aid Case No. SA. 102137, approving the 380 million-euro (US$405 million) Italian tourism and spa sector regimes due to the coronavirus pandemic. The decision includes measures: 1) providing tax credits for the tourist-hotel accommodation, open-air accommodation, and spa sectors; 2) covering costs related to the development and improvement of infrastructure and facilities within these sectors; and 3) providing aid to the spa sector covering up to 65 percent of the eligible costs, up to 200,000 euros (US$213,363) per beneficiary.
