European Union Gazettes EC Decision Authorizing Swedish State Aid Regime for Vessel Operators

The European Union Official Gazette March 7 published the European Commission (EC) Decision No. 2024/837, authorizing Sweden to apply a reduced tax rate to electricity provided directly to vessels at berth in a port. The regime authorizes Sweden to reduce the tax rate to 6 Swedish kroner (US$0.58) per megawatt-hour (MWh), from 39.2 kroner (US$3.81) per MWh, for the supply of shore-side electricity to commercial shipping vessels carrying at least 400 gross tonnage.
