Ex-UBS Staffer Gets Second Chance at Payday Over Swiss Billions

An ex-UBS Group AG employee turned whistle-blower will get another chance to ask French authorities to compensate her for helping them uncover about 9.6 billion euros ($9.7 billion) that taxpayers stashed away in Swiss bank accounts.

The boost for Stephanie Gibaud, who organized events for wealthy UBS France clients until she was laid off a decade ago, comes after French judges said tax authorities were wrong to argue that her contribution can’t be rewarded because it came before the entry into force in 2017 of legislation allowing such paydays.
