Finland Announces Proposals to Amend Vehicle Tax, Alcohol Tax Acts

The Finnish Ministry of Finance Oct. 14 announced Proposals Nos. VM/2021/157 and VM/2021/158, to amend the vehicle tax and the alcohol tax act. The proposals include measures to: 1) reduce the tax rate to zero percent from 2.7 percent on passenger cars with zero carbon emissions; 2) increase the basic tax on zero emission vehicles by 65 euros (US$75) per year, applicable from Oct. 1, 2021, to Oct. 1, 2023; 3) refund car taxes levied between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31; 4) increase the ethyl alcohol volume threshold to 3.5 percent from 2.8 for the reduced tax on beer; 5) ...
