Finland is seeking feedback on a proposal to increase taxation of soft drinks, under a public consultation announced Monday by the finance ministry.
The proposal would replace the current two tiers of 13 euro cents (14.8 cents) per liter for sugar-free drinks and 32 cents per liter for drinks with added sugar with six tiers ranging from 20 cents to 59 cents per liter.
Taxation of mild fermented beverages with alcohol content of between 1.2% and 2.8% would also increase under the proposal, to 50 cents per liter, from 36 cents. ...
