The Finnish Ministry of Finance July 4 opened a consultation on a draft proposal to amend the VAT rates on specific products. The proposal includes measures to: 1) transfer goods falling under the scope of the current 10 percent reduced VAT rate to the scope of the 14 percent reduced VAT rate, excluding newspapers and magazines; and 2) move menstrual protection products, incontinence protection products, and children’s diapers to the scope of the 14 percent reduced VAT rate from the scope of the general VAT rate.
