Finland Parliament Considers Bill to Exempt VAT for In Vitro Diagnostic Devices Due to Coronavirus

The Finnish Parliament (Eduskunta) Dec. 20 accepted for consideration Bill No. 233/2021, to exempt from VAT the domestic sale, EU intra-community acquisitions, and imports of in vitro diagnostic medical devices for self-testing due to the coronavirus pandemic. The bill includes measures to: 1) define in vitro diagnostic medical devices and similar devices for self-testing; and 2) allow input VAT deduction for the exempted sales. The law would enter into force Dec. 20 and apply to transactions occurring from Jan. 1, 2022, until Dec. 31, 2022. [Finland, Eduskunta, 12/20/21]
