Finland Tax Agency Updates Guidance on Deductions for Income-Earning Expenses

The Finnish Tax Administration Jan. 21 posted Guidance No. VH7324/00.01.00/2025, on income tax deductions for income-earning expenses. The guidance provides: 1) a list of nondeductible living expenses, including mortgage payments, childcare expenses, and general housing expenses; 2) that all employees can claim a fixed deduction of 750 euros (US$884.09) from employment income without actually incurring income-earning expenses; 3) that labor market organization membership fees are nondeductible, while unemployment fund contributions are deductible; 4) that home office deductions aren’t available from Jan. 1, but flat-rate deductions ranging from 245 euros (US$288.92) to 980 euros (US$1,155.71) can be claimed by taxpayers who ...
