France Successfully Tests First Global Minimum Tax Return Filing

France has successfully tested the first global minimum tax return as multinational companies express concerns about inadequate preparation by countries worldwide.

The first GloBE Information Return, or GIR—the mechanism by which companies will file taxes under the 15% global minimum tax—has “passed all the tests,” Patricia Lechard, the French tax authority’s director of international tax reform, said in a LinkedIn post Thursday.

Businesses with annual revenue above €750 million ($873 million) are subject to the global minimum tax in jurisdictions signed up to the rule.
