French Court Clears 2026 Budget That Includes Taxes on Wealthy

France’s constitutional court cleared the 2026 budget including a series of measures aimed at taxing the wealthy, a decision that paves the way for President Emmanuel Macron to finally promulgate the finance bill.

Judges validated the procedure for adopting the law and declared the vast majority of its provisions constitutional. They struck down some minor elements on the grounds they had no place in a budget and added notes to two provisions to ensure their application is constitutional.
