French lawmakers have agreed on the final text of the country’s proposed digital services tax, targeting U.S. tech giants such as Facebook Inc., Alphabet Inc.'s Google and Amazon, moving it one step closer to being signed into law.
The new draft was agreed to late June 26 by a joint committee of the Senate and National Assembly, and will next be up for vote by both houses. French President Emmanuel Macron will have 15 days to sign the levy into law, after both houses vote.
