U.S. pension funds alleged to have helped defraud the Danish government out of $2.1 billion in dividend tax refunds are asking a U.S. court to compel nine former tax ministers to testify in the civil case.
Lawyers representing the funds and their beneficiaries asked the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to issue a request to seek assistance from Denmark to get their testimony, according to documents filed this week. The defendants aim to show how deficiencies at the Danish tax authority led to the disbursements.
