G-20 Agreement on Need to Tax Super-rich Hailed as ‘Historic’

Countries should begin negotiations “now” on reforms to capture income of the super-rich that modern tax systems fail to effectively tax, the EU Tax Observatory said, in a statement lauding the G-20 leaders’ communiqué on the topic.

The Brazilian G-20 Presidency has focused on tax and inequality, culminating in this week’s compromise agreement in Rio de Janeiro that the ultra-wealthy are not sufficiently taxed and that member countries would work together to fix the issue.
